About Color Flood
Color Flood starts with a board of randomly coloured squares. Your region begins in the top-left corner; every time you choose a colour, your whole region changes to it and absorbs any neighbouring squares of the same colour.
The goal is to turn the entire board into one colour within the move limit. It looks simple, but choosing the colour that captures the most new squares is not always the best long-term plan. Each board is random, so no two games are the same.
How to play
- Your region starts as the top-left square and any matching neighbours.
- Pick a colour to repaint your region and absorb adjacent squares of that colour.
- Fill the entire board with one colour before your moves run out.
Tips and strategy
- Head for the centre early. A central region touches more of the board.
- Prefer colours that open up large connected areas, not just the biggest immediate gain.
- Near the end, count the colours left on the board. You need at least one move per remaining colour.
Frequently asked questions
How many moves do I get?
The limit depends on board size: 22 moves on Small, 30 on Medium and 38 on Large.
Is every board winnable?
Boards are random, but the move limits are generous enough that nearly all boards can be cleared with good play.
Is it colour-blind friendly?
Each colour swatch also shows a distinct symbol, and colours were chosen for strong contrast.
